The Suzuki "Harpmaster" has got to be THE most awesome deal to be had on the planet for the price! The "Harpmaster" is the VERY best harmonica that I have ever played,I can hardly control myself ! I have been playing the harmonica for over 30 years now and as you all know it is easy to get bored at times practicing but not with this harp.I have been playing so much in the last 2 weeks since I got it that I think I have become addicted to playing it . Please forgive me for this comparison, but it is a lot like meeting the woman of your dreams,ya just can't get enough .
After just playing a few notes/chords and octaves on the Suzuki "Harpmaster" it was like going from a small electric piano ( my old brand of harmonicas ) to a full blown B-3 organ ( the Harpmaster ).The Harpmaster has so much more volume and a velvety smooth creamy texture to it's voicing that it just grabs you . It is almost like this baby is singing to me . The harmonica sounds so full and responsive to even the smallest nuance in your playing , it does not fight with you like some harps that make you have try extra hard to do what is easy on the Harpmaster. It has a slightly brighter sound than some harps but that is by no ways a draw back , this baby is a "Pure Tone Monster" that is sure to give you and your audience chill bumbs for days .
I am a big fan of overdriven tube amps and with the Suzuki "Harpmaster" my little 5 watt tube amp sounds like it is on steroids , twice it's size . EVERY single hole from 1 thru 10 plays like a dream bent and unbent , how can they sell this harmonica so cheap . This just proves a point how serious Suzuki takes quality control and providing the customer with a quality product that will make them confident in buying more of their products . I have played pretty much every brand and model of harmonica out there , production and custom , and Suzuki "Harpmaster" has taken my breath away . I still cannot believe how impressed I was from the very first second that I started playing it . Doing a inhale slur bend on hole # 3 and holding it , and going oy-oy-oy tells the story . I have been excessively aggrressive playing it for a couple of weeks now and she is so sweet to me every time .
The Suzuki "Harpmaster" is all meat and no filler . Know how sometimes you may buy a cd just to hear your favorite 2 songs on it , hard to find music these days were the whole cd is a keeper . This a good comparison to use for the Harpmaster . I have many harps , some sound great for deep note #2 inhale bending , but sounds bad for either chugging or octave techniques . As I mentioned above , do the inhale bend on hole #3 where you day "da" , then start slur bending it for a few seconds . Then in the same inhalation , go into a very aggressive oy-oy-oy-oy articulation and do this for as long as you can . You will too become a believer in the Suzuki "Harpmaster" after doing this .
This is going to be an ongoing review with updates as I continue to become more familier with it playing both acoustically and amplified . The Suzuki "Harpmaster" gets a (7) Harp Salute from ol' Big Daddy BluzHarp as well my newly appointed "Tone Monster Award" . WOW !
